Metal pie tins, and scrap paper, and glue. Oh my!
My scrap paper bin was over-flowing, what to do? Lets do paper-mache!
Third graders had a blast getting their hands messy creating these paper sculptures inspired by the glass artist, Dale Chihuly. We dipped our paper strips into a mixer of glue and water then laid them in a metal pie tins, which we were using as our forms. It took awhile for them to dry, but it was worth the wait! 3-4 layers of crisscross paper are best, 1 layer will fall apart. Our mixer was more glue than water. Remove any excess mixture. Do this by lightly sliding two fingers from the top to the bottom of the strip of paper. Hold it over the bowl so it drips back into the container.
My paper scrap bin in now empty. lol
